“I believe stories can spark connection and change.”
Stories Connect Us—and Create Change
Behind every statistic is a human story—a moment of resilience, hope, or transformation. These are the stories that move people to care, act, and give.
I’m Janine Sheen, a photographer, filmmaker, and storyteller with a passion for amplifying real voices. Over the past decade, I’ve worked across creative and community projects, helping organisations share stories that matter. My work blends journalism, co-design, and visual artistry to create narratives that resonate on a deeply human level.
Now, I’m evolving my practice to focus on impact storytelling—helping not-for-profits, social enterprises, and community initiatives share authentic stories that inspire action. These narratives build empathy and trust, creating stronger pathways for donor support, grant success, and lasting change.
Why Work With Me
With over a decade of experience as a content strategist and producer, I bring a unique blend of skills in photography, video, writing, and community engagement. In 2011, I was honoured to receive a Churchill Fellowship to explore how storytelling and the arts can build stronger, more connected communities—a journey that continues to shape my work today.
I’ve collaborated or created content with organisations like the City of Melville, UWA, Uniting WA, Linkwest, Celebrate WA, Port to Pub, and various not-for-profits, producing story-rich content that moves beyond marketing to create genuine connection and impact. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and curiosity, ensuring that the voices I tell are represented with care and authenticity.
Whether producing films, capturing photographs, writing compelling narratives, or facilitating community storytelling projects, I focus on amplifying real stories that build trust, inspire donors, and help organisations achieve lasting social change.
I am currently applying to deepen my expertise through postgraduate study in Social Impact.
